Subscription terms

Plans and prices

• Paid subscription to one town: $5 a month or $50 a year. Every story on that town’s Townbrief site in full.
• Paid subscription to a county: $8 a month or $80 a year. Every town site in that county and the county site.

The price you see before checkout is the full price. No sales tax or other fees are added.

Free trial

A first paid subscription starts with a 30-day free trial. Your card is collected at checkout but not charged during the trial. 7 days before the trial ends we email you the date and the amount of the first charge. Cancel before the trial ends and you are never charged. One trial per person.

Automatic renewal

A paid subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the price shown at checkout, until you cancel. For a yearly subscription we email you 15 days before each renewal with the date and the amount. If the price ever changes, we tell you before the next charge.

Cancelling

Cancel any time online at townbrief.com/account, in one step, without contacting anyone. You keep full access to the end of the period you paid for (or the end of the trial), and you can resume before then. We confirm the cancellation by email.

Refunds

• No partial refunds for unused time when you cancel; access continues to the end of the period.
• A full refund on request within 7 days of your first charge, or of a yearly renewal. Ask from your account page.
• If you close your Townbrief account, we refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.

Failed payments

If a charge does not go through, our payment processor tries again over the following days and we email you to update your card. Your access continues for 7 days. If the payment still has not gone through by then, the paid subscription ends and you remain a free subscriber.

Gift subscriptions

A gift is a paid subscription for someone else for 3, 6 or 12 months, paid once: for one town $15, $30 or $50; for a county $24, $48 or $80. A gift never renews and the recipient is never charged. A full refund is available on request within 7 days of the purchase.

Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number.
